Mid-frequency Induction Heater BTHR 800/1,5-C30 (reconstruction)

Compact middle frequency heater for VIVA Zlín company is used for induction heating of steel billets with circular cross-section up to forging temperature. The original induction heater BTH 2/2415 NC made by AEG Elotherm has been reconstructed to BTHR 800/1,5-C30. During its reconstruction the modification of the frequency converter and the change of its controller were made. The damaged parts of pneumatic, cooling and electric systems were replaced. Newly the heater is controlled by programmable logic controller (PLC) made by Siemens. The new heater has been equipped with safety elements including temperature sensors for the original inductors. The original vibratory conveyor and roller feeder pushing the heated material through the inductor were replaced by a horizontal conveyor with a roller mechanism. The speed of both mechanisms is controlled by a frequency converter. The temperature of each heated piece is measured with a non-contact pyrometer and its value and measuring time can be saved to the PLC memory. The original sorter of heated billets is controlled according to the value of measured temperature. The sorter prevents the improperly heated billets (overheated or underheated) from continuing to the press. The operator interfaces with the induction heater using the control panel which includes push-buttons and an interactive PLC display. The heater parameters (required temperature, power level, temperature ranges, operator´s login, etc.) are all set on the PLC display. The same display also shows any faults in the induction heating system to the operator.
