Transistor frequency converter was made for company Peikko Deutschland GmbH. Together with a mid-frequency transformer and an appropriate inductor it is used for induction heating of rods made of magnetic steel.
Each inductor has got two holes to put the cold ends of the rods in. They are inserted by the operator alternately by one end into the free inductor hole. The light signalling indicates that the required temperature has been reached. The rod with the heated end has to be immediately put out of the inductor by the operator. If the operator does not put the rod out, the output of the frequency converter decreases and the temperature is kept constant.
The operation of the frequency converter is ensured by operating system consisting of regulator, converters and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The temperature of the heated rod end is measured by a non-contact thermomether UPF IV. The converter is operated with buttons and a communication panel placed on the door of the frequency converter. Heating parameters are set on the communication panel where all failures of the heater are displayed in text, including the instructions for troubleshooting.
